FRIDAY 20th JANUARY – DAY CANCELLED AGAIN

It was raining heavily when we woke up this morning and as we drove to the airfield in the rain to prep our gliders in their dry hangars we admired the tenacity of the weigh station crew processing the first gliders through the scales on their way to the grid (and the crews who doggedly prepped their gliders in the rain). Shortly afterwards the rain literally came down in stair rods flooding the airfield and the organisation postponed gridding.

Tasks were set for all classes were announced at briefing but shortly after the day was cancelled for 18M and Open Classes as the field was too muddy and soft to tow out to the grid. The 15M Class was gridded on the main runway and launching started at 2pm into a ragged sky torn apart by the strong wind. After the first few gliders launched fell down the 15M class task was cancelled.

So no change to the overall positions. Tomorrow is the last flying day. We are in the hunt for medals and it will be all to play for.
